March & Easter Glamping Availability

6/3/2023

Spring Holidays on the Farm

Picture
We're a week away from the first lambs arriving and so many plants and trees are in bud now, Spring is certainly just around the corner.  We have plenty of availability for the Easter school holidays in all our accommodation, both glamping and the holiday cottages.  If you'd like to stay sooner whilst it's quiet and peaceful, the Stable Cottage and Dckhouse Cabin are available every weekend though March, with couple discounts running if there are only two of you.

The ewes look pretty round to me, I hope there won't be too many triplet lambs as invariably the smallest will need to be bottle fed - lovely for our guests, but a bit of a chore for us when we're busy getting ready to open the safari tents for the first guests of the season!  Snow is due this week, but that's fine, we'd rather have it now not in April!  Guests don't need to worry though it's cosy in all our accommodation with large efficient wood burning stoves and a generous supply of firewood included for your stay.  All the safari tents have new curtains this year, with bedroom curtains interlined with extra layers so  you'll be cosy in bed at the start and end of the season.

Dog Friendly Safari Tent Glamping with Enclosed Paddock for Dogs Off Their Leads!

Every year we look at what we offer and make a few tweaks here and there, and this year we have moved the goats out of their paddock to make a space where guests can run their dogs off the lead in an enclosed space.  This paddock is fairly large and close to our three dog friendly safari tents, Buzzard, Hawk and Kestrel Lodges.  We've also upped our dog allowance, and now allow two dogs in each of these lodges - well behaved dogs, not puppies please and up to date with all their vaccines.  Our dog rules are over on our  T&C and important guests read these as we're a working farm with lots of animals, lambs, chickens etc as well as small children.

Middle Stone Farm is in a very rural location, surrounded by gorgeous, unspoilt countryside and just a couple of miles from Exmoor National Park where there are no end of lovely walks, in woodland, open heath or along the coast.  All the beaches around here are dog friendly, there aren't restrictions on the local beaches as West Somerset is a fairly unknown (secret) destination and most people fly on past to Cornwall without realising how gorgeous and unspoilt this area of the South West is.    For guests wanting to avoid crowds and tourist traps, this is the place to stay!
Tarr Steps, Exmoor National Park

Somerset Holiday close to Exmoor National Park & The Quantock Hills

You'll find a list on our website of all our favourite places in and around Exmoor National Park, the photograph above is of Tarr Steps, it's so gorgeous on a hot day- well any day really.  It can be busy here on a hot Sunday in August, but step way a few metres away from the bridge and follow the footpath along the river and you'll have lots of areas to yourself where you can paddle, wild swim, stop for picnic or just a quiet moment to take in this beautiful place.    For more stops along rivers try Withypool, Wimbleball, Simonsbath, Bossington village Clatworthy Reservoir (very close to us) or Exford with its well known pub.

Farm Stay Holiday Experiences, Glamping in Somerset

We offer regular farm tours for anyone who's interested, now Spring is nearly here, it's a nicer time to be in the fields, not quite so muddy as it is in December and we'll be lambing soon, so there's lots to see.  Every year the fox tends to come through and kill all our chickens which is terribly sad and frustrating, so for 2023 we have a new covered chicken run, large enough for our twenty hens.  With bird flu raging around the country, most people's chickens are shut inside and can't be labelled as free range, but as ours are now outside again, in their safe space, our eggs are free range and you can buy them from us for your breakfast.  We also have pigs on the farm as well as sheep, alpacas, a couple of geese and a few goats.

Children's Play Area, Child Friendly Glamping Holidays in the South West

All our accommodation is child, toddler and baby friendly, we have two play areas in the glamping fields, two sets of swings, two climbing frames, mini ride on tractors for small children, a mini hill to climb with a tunnel running through it and giant tractor wheels for farm styled hop-scotch - quite popular with adults too!   Inside all the accommodation are child friendly crockery and cutlery, we have baskets of toys and children's books tucked away in all the accommodation and our shop has children's toys and books too.   Our hot tubs are safe for children over the age of five (younger children and toddlers shouldn't use a streaming hot tub because their bodies are not able to regulate their temperature and cool off as adults are able to).

The bathrooms have child friendly steps to reach the basins, non slip mats and potties are available too.  If you're staying as an adult couple, don't worry all this kit is tucked away when we don't have children staying!

There's plenty of space in front of the lodges for children to run free and let of steam, we also have bicycle racks close to each accommodation so you can store your bikes if you've brought them on holiday with you,  in the summer when it's not muddy children can cycle happily around the fields
