Good Easy Walks on Exmoor & The Quantocks
Our closest walks are a lovely circular forest walk through a disused quarry in our village, or nearby Willett Hill has lovely forest walks too. Ask us when you are here for directions and we'll give the What3Words location as neither are clearly marked.
There's so much choice for walks on Exmoor it's difficult to know where to begin! We are very lucky to have Exmoor on our doorstep with over 1000km of footpaths and bridleways, through oak woodlands, alongside tumbling rivers, open heather-covered moorland and dramatic coast, the variety is endless.
Tarr Steps has an easy circular walk with good pub - a good choice for families with young children. We love Simonsbath and Withypool, also walks along the river and both are good for safe paddling. You could walk a bit of the SW coastal path at beautiful Bossington, or visit Horner Woods, or Heddon's Mouth - we recommend both of these places. Nearby Wimbleball Lake has easy walks too and lots of good picnic spots. Selworthy has nice walks through the woods and a good tea room for cake afterwards! Dunkery Beacon is the highest point in Somerset, a gentle fairly easy climb to the top with fantastic views, but don't do it in high winds as it can be bracing, if you want an easy walk park higher up then you don't have so far to climb! The National Trust has also good lists of walks on their website.
We are also close to The Quantock Hills, a 20 minute drive away with lots of easy and stunning walks, and good pubs for when you're finished! The Quantocks also has ancient woodlands, wild ponies and far reaching views over the Bristol Channel to Wales.

Walking Somerset & Devon
There are beautiful ancient woodlands both on Exmoor and The Quantocks. These woodlands are just a mile away in our village where there is miles of footpath in a disused quarry.

The South West Path starts at Minehead, if you've read The Salt Path you'll know it's a steep start. This photo is at Lynmouth, it's fairly easy here and stunning!

Exmoor is a walker's paradise, we go for fairly easy walks with our children on solid footpaths, this is Simonsbath where you can follow the footpath with a picnic.
