From stunning beaches, green spaces, ancient woodlands, lakes and more, covering a wide range of landscapes, beautiful Somerset has lots to offer. There’s so much to explore in Somerset from wildflower meadows, beach waterfalls, ancient wells, unique carvings & underground reservoirs.
West Somerset where we are is a landscape of valleys and hills. Exmoor National Park is on our doorstep, The Quantocks 20 minutes drive. The West Somerset Railway starts near us at Bishops Lydeard and steams along the coast towards Minehead. The brand new East Quay Gallery at Watchet is definitely worth visiting, it's about 20 minutes from us. Tropiquaria is on the way there and popular with small children.
West Somerset is a bit of a secret, although we're only 25 minutes from the M5 and Taunton. It's never very busy here even in August. The only place which can be busy is Minehead, which we tend to avoid in the summer months. You won't find lots of holiday traffic on the roads around our farm, you might find you need to slow down because of sheep on the road or a wide tractor, but very rarely caravans! If you're planning a holiday in the South West, but want to avoid the tourist traps, West Somerset is definitely the place to consider.

The Blackdown Hills and Mendip Hills are not far away either, with the flat, marshy landscape of the Somerset Levels in between. These hidden gems can be found in addition to the well-known landmarks, such as Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge and Wells Cathedral which have secrets of their own to be explored. If you want to shop we suggest Bristol or Exeter which are both vibrant cities, the small town of Wellington about 25 minutes from us has some nice independent shops, Taunton has all the usual chains, Street has Clarks Village.
