Our Life on The Farm
Middle Stone Farm Glamping is owned and run by Patrick and Catherine Heard. Tired of our London jobs we dreamed of living a slower and more sustainable lifestyle in the South West. We moved to the farm in 2014 and we opened our glamping site to guests a year later. We had never farmed before but trial and error has got us where we are today, along with advice from our farming neighbours!
We've learnt that you can have a mountain of books about raising animals, but the best way to learn is to get on and do it, a bit like raising children! We farm with organic principals and spend many hours over the winter months planting trees and shrubs, consider our carbon footprint and do our bit for the environment.
Before moving to the farm Catherine worked in the art world and still practices as an artist, Patrick worked in the wine trade.
We are very lucky to live in this quiet and relatively unknown part of the South West. West Somerset is a bit of a secret and well away from the busy tourist circuit. We love sharing Exmoor with our guests, it's a really special place and incredibly beautiful. We have lots of ideas of good places to visit nearby, quality walks and nice places to eat. We also offer farm tours from Spring to Autumn for any guests who would like to join us for the farmer's rounds. With three children, three dogs and a menagerie of farm animals there is always something going on Middle Stone Farm! Follow us on Instagram if you want to follow our story.
