National Trusts Somerset & Devon

Somerset National Trust Family Day Out
We're lucky to have some quality National Trust houses, gardens and coastline near us, so if you have membership don't forget to pack your card.

Dunster Castle near Minehead is 25 minutes from the farm, an ancient castle with working watermill and subtropical gardens it's brilliant for all the family.  There's lots to do and see here and it's open all year round.  Knightshayes Court near Tiverton in the photo above, is also definitely worth visiting, as well as the house there's a beautiful walled kitchen garden, parkland, children's play area, a good shop and cafe.

Fyne Court on the Quantocks is a National Trust woodland with nice tea room and it's free to visit so you don't need a ticket.  We also love Barrington Court and  Montecute just off the A303 so good options if you want to stop off before you arrive here.  Killerton in Devon is good for families and Watersmeet on Exmoor is also gorgeous with woodland walks down to a river in deep in the valley.  The tea room at Watersmeet has been open since 1901 and their cream teas with whortleberry jam are legendary.

National Trust Gardens

Barrington Court Gardens
If you're travelling to or from us on the A303, Barrington Court another good National Trust, their gardens are really gorgeous and they have an inspiring vegetable garden too.  Montacute House is just a mile or two away - you could do both these National Trusts in a day.
