Middle Stone Farm provides self catering accommodation in 6 luxury safari lodges, a wooden cabin and holiday cottage on our 32 acre working farm in West Somerset.
Whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests some aspects of our accommodation may be difficult for guests with limited mobility, please don't hesitate to contact if you would like further details about our accommodation and access. Further access details are below:
Pre Arrival:
We encourage guests to make their booking over the internet via our website using a credit or debit card, this is the safest financial method for guests to book. We however talk can talk you through the process over the phone. After a booking is made an instant automated email will be sent and a second personal email will be sent from us making formal confirmation within 48hrs of booking.
A map can be found on our website here; directions and parking instructions will be sent by email a few days before arrival. Arrival is highly recommended by car, but guests can arrive by taxi. We do not have public transport to the village.

We are located just off the B3188 between Pitsford Hill and the village of Brompton Ralph. We are 3.6 miles from the small town of Wiveliscombe and 11 miles from Taunton (the County Town of Somerset).

Public Transport:
There is no public transport to Middle Stone Farm, we highly recommend guests travel here by car or take a taxi from Taunton or Tiverton train station.
There is a regular train service from London Paddington to Taunton, the fastest train takes 1hr 45 minutes. There are good prices available if you book in advance. The train line is operated by GWR. National Rail Enquiries: 08457 48 49 50.
Buses of Somerset operate between Taunton and Wiveliscombe.
The nearest airports are Exeter (50 minutes drive) and Bristol (1hr 15 minutes drive)

Arrival:
Access to Middle Stone Farm is through a shared entrance off the lane, then there is a private driveway to the safari lodges, Deckhouse Cabin, Stable Cottage and farmhouse. Middle Stone Farm is clearly signed.
Our driveway is surfaced however we ask guests to drive slowly and carefully as there are often dogs and children on the driveway. The car park for the safari lodges is halfway down the drive on the right. There are wheelbarrows to borrow to transport bags to the lodges, however we are happy to help guests with their luggage on our quad trailer if requested either in advance or at the time of arrival.
Check in is from 4.30pm until 8pm in the safari lodges and from 4.30pm until 9.30pm in the cottage and cabin. Guests staying in safari lodges must arrive in daylight. Check out on the day of departure is by 9.30am.
On arrival, please call on the mobile number we have provided in the pre-arrival email.
Cars should be left in the car park area which is a short distance from your accommodation.
Parking for the Cottage and The Deckhouse is alongside the barn just a few metres from your accommodation.
Safari Lodges:
Our 6 safari lodges are in two separate 3 acre fields. There are mown paths from the car park to the 6 lodges. There are 3 wide wooden steps up onto the front deck of each lodge. The entrance canvas ‘door’ is five foot wide opening into the living area. The interior of the lodges is on one single flat level, the only steps are the 3 outside steps up onto the deck and 3 steps down at the emergency exit.
There is a smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguisher, fire blanket and an emergency procedure for each safari lodge. Each lodge has LED lighting, a fridge/freezer and electrical sockets suitable for charging mobile devices or for medical equipment.
There is a good mobile signal with 4G in the two glamping fields.
Support Dogs
Registered assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our accommodation, Buzzard, Hawk and Kestrel Lodges are our most dog friendly lodges and guests with support dogs may find these accommodations most suitable for their dog due to the enclosed decks. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you wish to bring an assistance dog to one of our other accommodations.
Deckhouse Cabin:
There are two steps up to the veranda of The Deckhouse Cabin. There are double doors into the cabin and inside the interior is on one level. The cabin is heated by a wood burning stove with fire guard provided. There is a smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguisher and fire blanket provided. Parking is close to the cabin (less than 10 metres).
The Stable Cottage:
The Stable Cottage is an annex of the farmhouse. There is a single step into the building through double glass doors. There is a low step into the main bedroom and a low step into the shower room. The rest of the building is on one single flat level. There are double glass doors in the twin bedroom with access down one low step to the fenced terrace garden. The small gravel garden is gated, there are three wooden steps down from the garden to the driveway. There is a smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguisher and fire blanket provided. Parking is close to the cottage (less than 10 metres). There is WiFi in the cottage.
All of our accommodation is non smoking. All of our bedlinen is hypoallergenic.
Wiveliscombe (nearest town):
Wiveliscombe is situated at the foot of the Brendon Hills at the gateway to Exmoor. The town is a thriving local centre surrounded by stunning countryside. ’Wivey’ is home to numerous shops and galleries, many still with their Victorian frontages whilst the pubs stock ales from the town’s two renowned breweries. Wiveliscombe is a former market and cloth-making town steeped in history. The 10 Parishes Festival in September is a week long celebration of visual and performing arts that brings surrounding villages together to show their vibrant local talent to visitors. Wiveliscombe, just a 15-minute drive from Taunton, is a delightful town to visit with plenty of historic buildings to admire and some excellent independent shops.
Wiveliscombe has a petrol station, GP, chemist, hardware store, good quality butcher, several pubs and a restaurant. There is an outdoor swimming pool next to the recreation ground and tennis courts. The Co Op supermarket is open 7 days a week and has an ATM. The library has computer access and there is a tourist information office also. There is a small farmer’s market on Saturday mornings from 9 - 11.45pm. Petrol is available from Jones Garage in the town centre.
