Wood Fired Hot Tub Glamping

Glamping with private hot tub, safari tent

Hot Tub Heating Information

Our Swedish hot tubs are heated by a wood fire which you operate yourselves -  they are not electric and there's no on switch!  Within the tub is a wood fire which you light using kindling and firelighters.  Once the kindling is burning nicely, you add a few small logs to build a fire and once that's burning you start adding logs every 15 minutes until your water is hot.  You can't go out and leave it when you're heating the water, you need to be here feeding the fire with logs.

We will email you a video of how to use the hot tub in your arrival information and we're always around if you need a hand getting it going.  They are essentially like a bath with some chlorine added, they are emptied and scrubbed with bleach between guests and perfectly safe during Covid.

Heating Times:
The cottage and cabin hot tubs take around 2-3 hours to heat in the summer and 4-6 hours in the winter.  The heating time depends on your fire skills, the more furious the fire burns the quicker the water will heat!   The water will stay warm when you put the cover on after you've used it so it should only take  an hour or so the following day to get it hot again.  If you're staying in the cottage or cabin in the winter we highly recommend you ask us to heat it for you so it's hot when you arrive.

The hot tubs for the safari lodges take a bit longer to heat up, around 3 hours in the summer,  4-5 hrs if you're staying in the early spring or autumn when the air temperature is cooler.   These timings are based on your fire skills!  The fire needs to be burning furiously continuously, so you need to be on site during this time feeding your fire regularly.

A generous amount of firewood for the hot tubs is provided by us along with kindling, matches and firelighters and the wood will be ready in your wood store when you arrive.

Hot Tub Pre Heats are available for the cottage and cabin during the winter months only.
