Hen Activities in West Somerset
Active Hen Weekends in the Somerset and Devon Countryside
Although lots of previous hens we have hosted have just chilled here over the weekend in their hammocks and hot tubs, there are lots of ideas of places nearby if you feel like some activities.
Although we don't run specially organised hen activities on our farm there are plenty of things to do in the nearby area with your friends.
Our friend Emma at Brompton Buds, runs flower crown workshops based in her one of her gorgeous barns in our village. It's a lovely mile walk to get to her and her farm is gorgeous! Get in touch for prices and availability, she's very busy in the summer with weddings, so if you're thinking of doing a workshop please book ahead.
Exmoor Adventures in Porlock offers adrenaline fuelled fun both on and off the water. Channel Adventure in Minehead also offers a variety of adventurous activities from axe throwing to paddle boarding. There are also watersports available on nearby Wimbleball Lake.
The Bear Trail is a popular adventure trail for all ages outside Cullompton in Devon - think zip wires, giant slides, rope swings, trampolines, long slides and lots of Devon mud! There are hot showers for anyone who gets muddy, they serve decent coffee in the barn and reasonably priced wood fired pizzas too.
Although we have alpacas here on the farm, they are quite wild and free so we don't do the walking experiences, but Alpacas of Hall Farm does, they're about 20 minutes drive from us on Exmoor, the pub in Luxborough is also good. For guided safaris on Exmoor contact Exmoor Safaris or Red Stag Safaris. The Golden Retriever Experience is based up the road near Minehead, check out their Instagram for videos!
Flip Out Trampoline Park in nearby Wellington is good for a rainy day or there's bowling in Taunton. If you're thinking cocktails there's the Cosy Club in Taunton.
If you want to eat out at lunchtime, The Lost Kitchen is really lovely, we highly recommend it, it's close to Knightshayes Court with gorgeous parkland if you feel like a walk afterwards, The White Post Cafe is good too. Our nearest pub is The Bear in Wiveliscombe, here's a link to our eating out page.
